04 - In a large bowl, combine cooled pasta, halved cherry tomatoes, chopped romaine, diced red onion, diced avocado if using, and cooked bacon.
05 - Pour dressing over the salad mixture and toss gently to coat all ingredients evenly.
06 - Sprinkle chopped chives or parsley on top. Serve immediately or refrigerate up to 2 hours before serving.

# Expert Hints:

01 -
  • It tastes like your favorite sandwich but feeds a crowd without any assembly line stress.
  • The crispy bacon stays crunchy even after tossing, which feels like a small miracle every time.
  • You can make it ahead and it actually gets better as the flavors soak into the pasta.
02 -
  • Rinse the pasta after draining or it will clump into one giant starchy mass that no amount of stirring will fix.
  • Add the lettuce right before serving if making ahead, otherwise it wilts and loses all its crunch.
  • Dont skip the lemon juice, it brightens the whole dish and keeps the richness from feeling heavy.
03 -
  • Cook the bacon until its just past crispy, it will soften slightly once mixed but still hold its texture.
  • Chill the serving bowl before assembling, it keeps everything cooler longer on hot days.
  • Double the dressing recipe and keep extra in the fridge, you will want to drizzle more over leftovers.
