# Directions:

01 - Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
02 - Melt dark chocolate in a heatproof bowl over simmering water or in short microwave bursts, stirring until smooth.
03 - Pour melted dark chocolate onto the prepared sheet, spreading evenly into a rough 1/4 inch thick rectangle.
04 - Refrigerate for 10 minutes until the dark chocolate is just set but still slightly soft.
05 - Melt white chocolate using the same method, then stir in peppermint extract if desired.
06 - Pour the melted white chocolate over the chilled dark chocolate and spread evenly.
07 - Immediately sprinkle crushed peppermint candies and optional garnishes over the white chocolate, pressing gently to adhere.
08 - Refrigerate for 20 to 30 minutes until fully set.
09 - Break or cut the peppermint bark into irregular shards.
10 - Arrange shards loosely on a large wooden board for guests to serve themselves.
