Ingredients

  • Bread: 1 loaf (about 450 g) brioche or challah day-old sliced thick
  • Custard: 4 large eggs 2 cups (480 ml) whole milk 1/2 cup (120 ml) heavy cream 1/3 cup (65 g) light brown sugar 2 tsp vanilla extract 1 tsp ground cinnamon 1/2 tsp ground ginger 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg 1/8 tsp ground cardamom Pinch of salt
  • Topping: 1/4 cup (55 g) unsalted butter melted 1/4 cup (50 g) light brown sugar 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

Step 1:
Grease a 9x13-inch (23x33 cm) baking dish with butter or nonstick spray.
Step 2:
Arrange the bread slices in the dish overlapping slightly.

Step 4:

Uncover and bake for 40–45 minutes until golden brown and just set in the center.
